What is the Project Zomboid sleeping Event? ›

The sleeping event occurs randomly when the player is asleep. The player will wake up in a panic when not fully rested and a zombie can also spawn in the room.

When a character is exhausted in Project Zomboid, the player must locate a cozy spot to lay down and sleep. Sleeping accommodations include mattresses, settees, and chairs. A variety of places, such as residential buildings, police stations, and fire stations, have beds.

It's a meta event, It just lures zombies in a wide area in the general direction of the shot. They are called meta events. Basically it's just to give the impression you are not the only one in the world, and they move zombies around a bit. There is nothing you would have found if you followed the sound.

Failing to sleep will cause the player's damage when using weapons to drop. The player's field of view will also decrease, in addition to several other effects. The player cannot die from lack of sleep, though and can't currently fall asleep due to sleep deprivation.

Game time in Project Zomboid is dependent on the Time setting in sandbox, by default 1 real life hour equals to 1 in-game day.

Sleeping is an optional mechanic in Project Zomboid, as you can turn it on or off in the settings. If you want a more immersive experience on something like a roleplay server, you may want to enabled sleep on your server so that players can fast forward time.

You can sleep in a tent. If you don't find a tent kit, you can craft it with a tarp, 4 tent pegs and 2 wooden sticks. You can also craft a crappy wooden chair in the middle of nowhere and sleep on it.

Unlike the M1911 Pistol, the M36 can't jam. It also doesn't require magazines but has a slow reload time. This pistol is also the quietest firearm in the game, so to speak. Its noise radius is only 30 tiles, compared to the 70-tile sound of the D-E Pistol.

The Project Zomboid helicopter is a world event that will occur once in every save, by default. On a random day in your world, the helicopter will appear and make a lot of noise as it travels overhead. This noise will attract zombies, potentially causing hordes to migrate as they follow the helicopter around.

The player is sad due to prolonged boredom, stress, or consuming certain food items. Unhappiness makes all timed actions take longer: equipping weapons, transferring items, crafting, construction and so on.

There is no treatment for zombification-related sickness, and you will eventually turn into a zombie.

If the player has the smoker trait, they are required to have a cigarette regularly, else they'll start to gain stress and eventually unhappiness.

Metagame consists of the off-screen simulation of events and interactions of NPC's and Zombie between themselves and their environment. The metagame becomes concrete when the simulated characters and events come "on-screen." For example, the gunshots heard and the helicopter passing overhead are metagame events.
